If You Have A Voice, Use It
It’s a rare occurrence when I find myself sitting, and even more rare when I’m without my phone. My daughter says, “it’s not your phone’s fault it won’t keep a charge, you’re always on it!” Yea I know, but I have so many ideas and my mind just doesn’t stop. So I find myself with an unplanned day off. Sitting poolside at The Jeremy Hotel overlooking a panoramic view of LA. It was breathtaking.
I tried to breathe in and remain calm. A day off? Well, those words simply freak me out. Poolside. No phone. Lots of ideas. Breathe. So I pick up a magazine. Vogue.
I leaf through the pages to an interview with Jennifer Lawrence. My ADD keeps me from reading through the entire article plus I’m not a movie buff so I’m not so interested in her work. But what I loved were two quotes of hers that resonated with me. You do not have to watch Jennifer’s movies to know she’s talented, smart, + intuitive. I’m in awe of how such a young person can be so confident and knowing. Good for her!! I’ve been really quite impressed by the young people I’ve been meeting in LA over the last year. I was never that confident and assured when I was their age.
And I quote “If you have a voice, use it... the more criticism I get the more the conversation is happening.”
Thx Jennifer. Keep inspiring.
